Where are you from?
I live and study in Bratislava, but I come from a small village on the Slovak-Polish border.

Where did you study?
My design journey started at the School of Applied Arts in Trenčín in the field of industrial design, from where I went on to the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. I am currently studying for a Master’s degree in the Experimental Design Studio.

Who was your best teacher?
Sylvia Jokelová, the head of our studio.

Who were/are your parents?
My father is a railwayman, my mother a qualified cook. They farms alongside their work.

What don’t you enjoy in design?
Greenwashing.

And on the contrary, what do you?
I like it when things have a story, like design storytelling.

What do you listen to?
I’m currently having a 3xK season: Korben Dallas, Jana Kirschner and Katarzia.

Your favourite film, cartoon, series?
Amélie, The Incredibles, Sex and the City.

Who do you respect as an authority in and out of your field?
For me, an authority is probably anyone who has a lot of experience, does his job well and honestly, but at the same time does not make it felt to the others in the form of superiority and arrogance.

What thing did you last buy?
Flowerpot.

Do you buy professional literature? What was the latest book?
With every project, I try to expand my knowledge with at least one book in the field. Maybe it’s more about popular literature rather than scholarly literature. This semester it was The Gospell of Wellness and Arduino for Artists. In addition, I subscribe to the Slovak magazine Designum.

Do you vote?
Of course.

Who throws the best parties?
The best parties are at our studio.

Your favourite dome?
New Synagogue in Žilina.

Party dress. Made by…?
Since I love sewing, if I want something special I sew it myself.

Your hero from the past?
RuPaul.

Best/nicest house?
E-1027 by Eileen Gray.

Do you have any stereotypes when you work? How do they show?
I often struggle with a lot of indecisiveness, which is why it takes me longer to go from concept contemplation to material realization.

What’s on your desktop?
A scanned photo of the cover from an old bag of peat that was once mined in my home village. Unfortunately, I have not been able to trace the author of the graphic.

Best exhibition, work of art?
MAK Design Lab.

What do you respect both from the local and foreign design scene? And why?
Perseverance alongside whatever is happening at the moment.

Ethics or money?
I guess I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I’ll never be rich.

Extraordinary book?
The Big Reveal – Sasha Velour.

Optimist, pessimist, nihilist?
Optimist in the morning, pessimist in the evening.

Do you have any hobby?
All the textile techniques I discover.

Solo or in a collective?
Creating individual projects in a space with a good collective.
