Where are you from?
My permanent residence is in Krčava, but I have lived most of my life in Sobrance, lately I have been living in Bratislava.

Where did you study?
High school in Michalovce. Computer support of engineering production at Technical university in Košice, which I didn’t finish, and at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, which I finished.

Who was your best teacher?
Sylvia Jokelová, but I wouldn’t have got to her without Miroslav Capovčák.

Who were/ are your parents?
My mum is a geodesist and my dad was a carpenter for years, now he makes honey and jam.

What don’t you enjoy in design?
Copying.

And on the contrary, what do you?
Randomness, courage, moulds (casting).

What do you listen to?
Random rock classics and podcasts.

Your favourite film, cartoon, series?
12 Monkeys, Princess Mononoke and the second series of True Detective.

Who do you respect as an authority in and out of your field?
Oscar Zieta because he opened my eyes in my approach to designing. Outside of design, for example, Antonín Kratochvíl who has an incredible life story and has reached the top in his field.

What thing did you last buy?
Dental instruments, they will serve a different purpose.

Do you buy professional literature? What was the latest book?
Yes but not that often. The last time I bought two books by the same author: Okna dřevěná a kovová [Wood and Metal Windows] and Dvěře ze dřeva a kovu [Doors of Wood and Metal] (Adolf G. Schneck).

Do you vote?
Depends.

Who throws the best parties?
I don’t know.

Your favourite dome?
The dome of Santa Maria del Fiore was the first one that came to mind, I haven’t seen it in person yet.

Party dress. Made by…?
I don’t have any special clothes.

Your hero from the past?
Cyril, brother of Methodius.

Best/nicest house?
I have a favourite modernist villa on Hroboňova Street in Bratislava, but I don’t know who it’s from or who it belongs to.

Do you have any stereotypes when you work? How do they show?
I have trouble getting started, it manifests itself in reluctance, excuses and bad feeling. Once I get over the initial complications I can quickly get excited about a project.

What’s on your desktop?
I try not to have anything, but it’s a mess.

Best exhibition, work of art?
The installation details at the Milan Dome Museum. I like the detail of the railing welded from three steel towers with a circular cross section. I enjoy things well done.

What do you respect both from the local and foreign design scene? And why?
Zuzana Svatik, and Tadeáš Podracký. They both go for bombs, though each in a completely different style.

Ethics or money?
Compromise.

Extraordinary book?
The texts of Jan Michl.

Optimist, pessimist, nihilist?
Pessimist.

Do you have any hobby?
Skis and a bicycle. (just kidding)

Solo or in a collective?
Solo.

Slovakia as the Promised Land?
I guess so.
