Exhibition / BIATEC
(Slovenčina) BIATEC. Keltská mincovňa, Galéria Mesta Bratislavy, Pálffyho palác, Panská 19
New BIATEC exhibition. Celtic Mint, prepared by the Municipal Institute for the Preservation of Monuments in Bratislava (MÚOP) in cooperation with the Bratislava City Gallery (GMB), presents local cultural heritage through visual stories. Linking the architectural design of a relatively small space with modern digital technologies, it provides visitors with rich content in an interactive format.
The miniature space of the exhibition (14m²) is completely black, losing its contours and evoking a feeling outside of time and space. Only exhibits, texts and projections are visible. It is like the inside of an optical apparatus, it is not meant to be seen. Only the content is visible.
The content fills the whole space, but is not visible at once. The three separate projections on the walls react to the visitor’s position and are only triggered when he is in front of the exhibits to which a particular projection is dedicated. In the same way, the glazed floor gradually lights up according to the visitor’s movement, so that he gradually discovers the coin hoards or an authentic Celtic skeleton grave under his feet.
A special feature is the 18 separate display cases/tubes with coins under magnifying glass. Thanks to an electronic mechanism, the visitor can rotate them 360° and view the reverse and obverse of each coin. The control is also a haptic exhibit – a life-size copy of the coin. Thanks to the interactive elements, the exposition is shown gradually, thus fitting a narrative exhibition into a small space.
