Where are you from?
I’m from a small town near Bohemian Paradise, but my home is in Prague.

Where did you study?
The secondary glass school in Železný Brod. Then graphic design at the University of Hradec Králové, and now I am in my final year at UMPRUM in Prague, in glass.

Who was your best teacher?
I was lucky to have teachers, Jiří Kučera at my high school and Rony Plesl at the other college.

Who were/ are your parents?
My dad is a civil engineer and my mom has been exercising all her life – she currently has a yoga studio. Neither of them are in the arts, but both are interested in it and have guided me towards it, but most importantly they support me in it as much as possible.

What don’t you enjoy in design?
When a designer or architect is neither authentic nor innovative, and just wants to please with his work or bets on certainty.

And on the contrary, what do you?
Just that authenticity, courage and enthusiasm.

What do you listen to?
Incredible mix! Techno, classical music, house, folk metal.

Your favourite film or cartoon?
Youth, Disenchantment and Sex and the City (series) and I’m not ashamed of it!

Who do you respect as an authority in and out of your field?
There are more people, I won’t name names, it’s quite intimate for me, I acknowledge everyone who is himself or herself.

What thing did you last buy?
Black FFP2 respirator, but I would rather buy another accessory.

Do you buy professional literature? What was the latest book?
I buy mostly professional literature. The last book I bought was Malířská a sochařská výzdoba pražských obytných staveb 19. a raného 20. století.

Do you vote?
As long as it doesn’t interfere with the production process of the new piece, yes.

Who throws the best parties?
Well, UMPRUM!

Your favourite dome?
That one in the church San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane.

Party dress. Made by…?
Laformela, or by one of my classmates in fashion.

Your hero from the past?
I don’t play heroes.

Best/nicest house?
The aforementioned San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, TWA terminal, Yale’s Rudolph Hall… I don’t know, there are too many that are the most beautiful!

Do you have any stereotypes when you work? How do they show?
Probably a paraphrase of the past.

What’s on your desktop?
Random grouping of folders.

Best exhibition, work of art?
I was very impressed by the exhibition: Mat Collishaw – Standing Water.

What do you respect both from the local and foreign design scene? And why?
This is a tough question for me, I’ll repeat myself. I respect everyone who is authentic and moving forward.

Ethics or money?
Ethics.

Extraordinary book?
Dominika by Jaroslav Konáš, awakened something in me that I last felt in my childhood.

Optimist, pessimist, nihilist?
60% optimist, 35% pesimist, 5% nihilist.

Do you have any hobby?
Leaving aside my work with glass, I grow carnivores and orchids, collect stones, interpret runes, travel to see important architecture, collect and dry herbs, and hike.

Solo or in a collective?
Solo.

Slovakia as the Promised Land?
Definitely, for the Slovaks.
