Pre dizajnéra ide o špecifický projekt nie úplne typický pre jeho portfólio orientované skôr na “high fashion”. Odevy pre súčasného mestského cyklistu vznikli na základe zadania výrobcu, ktorý sa venuje prioritne výrobe bicyklov, ale zároveň chcel rozšíriť svoj sortiment aj o odev. Tento typ funkčného odevu nie je úplne bežná záležitosť – ak ste cyklista a hľadáte niečo na seba, pre túto aktivitu nájdete takmer výlučne elastické technické odevy viac menej unifikované a výlučne pre športovú cyklistiku. Marcel Holubec reflektoval ponuku a svoju kolekciu navrhol v súlade s identitou značky Suverén. Tá sa orientuje na sebavedomého, nezávislého človeka, ktorý má rád obrazne povedané vietor vo vlasoch a ide si vlastnou cestou. V kolekcii sú krátke a dlhé nohavice, šaty, bundy, plášte s jednoduchým ale premysleným strihom pre pohodlnú jazdu. Dizajnér ich doplnil nenápadnými detailami ako sú sťahovacie šnúrky, naberanie, vrecká, žiarivá farebnosť, ktoré dotvorili celkový dojem.

Medzinárodná porota NCD (organizuje SCD) ju hodnotila ako ukážkový príklad profesionálneho spracovania módnej kolekcie, ktorá spĺňa vysoké kritériá súčasnej módy. Svojou kvalitou je porovnateľná s medzinárodnými módnymi značkami a značkami z európskych metropol. Pozornosť si zaslúži aj skvelá prezentácia kolekcie, precízne materiálové spracovanie so zmyslom pre detail a celková koncepcia spojenia cyklistiky a módy.

For the designer, this is a specific project not entirely typical of his portfolio oriented more towards “high fashion”. The clothing for the contemporary urban cyclist was commissioned by a manufacturer who primarily manufactures bicycles, but also wanted to expand its range to include clothing. This type of functional clothing is not exactly commonplace – if you’re a cyclist and you’re looking for something to wear, you’ll find almost exclusively elastic technical clothing for this activity, more or less uniformed and exclusively for sport cycling. Marcel Holubec reflected the offer and designed his collection in line with the Sovereign brand identity. The brand is oriented towards the self-confident, independent man who likes the wind in his hair and goes his own way, figuratively speaking. The collection includes short and long trousers, dresses, jackets, coats with a simple but thoughtful cut for a comfortable ride. The designer has complemented them with subtle details like drawstrings, frills, pockets, vibrant colours that complete the overall impression.

The international jury of National Design Award (organized by Slovak Design Center) judged it as a prime example of a professional fashion collection that meets the high criteria of contemporary fashion. Its quality is comparable to international fashion labels and brands from European capitals. The excellent presentation of the collection, the precise material processing with attention to detail and the overall concept of combining cycling and fashion also deserve attention.
