New Work / TRIVJEDNOM, THE PLAIN

Performative design in triple-unit, or an experiment with the plane.

During BADW 2018, designers from the occasional design group trivjednom (Sylvia Jokelová, Ľubica Segečová and Silvia Lovasová) performatively created and presented a new version of the project Plane [1]. Their site-specific table is based on a simple principle – that a table is a functional object based on a plane. The base of their table is then a metal structure into which they poured levelling material on site. Once the material had solidified, you could then experience the perfect level of the site. In their Plane, you are essentially experiencing an experimental design project that really combines at least three processes in one (how symbolic). Design-wise, as it is a functional table design, architecturally, the resulting table surface directly replicates the floor space, and also from art, as it is performance and site specific.

The table had to be taken away after the festival. It exists, but it is no longer a perfect copy of the plane of the space in which it was created. Maybe one day they’ll find a client to go into it with them permanently.
