New Work / PETER LIŠKA, EXPLANATORY PROCESSES

The creation of the works and the exhibition by Petr Liška, tests graphic design and visual communication in the process of explaining the functioning of reality around us against the background of contemporary science. The idea for the exhibition was based on the recognition that our experience of the world does not completely overlap with what science claims about it through a system of agreed signs and forms of records – for example diagrams, maps, mathematical evidence, cosmological evidence, clocks, which have visual and content qualities that we overlook, or stereotypically perceive as just “some” scientific record. Liška wanted to show them in a new context, to challenge this way of seeing them, and to show their different qualities and the relativity in their perception through the creation of works that would comment on this.

The exhibition was supported by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region from public funds.
