Šperk ako niečo bola prvá samostaná výstava Lucie Gamanovej. Výstava, zároveň diplomová práca v ateliéri S+M+L_XL na VŠVU je výsledkom dlhodobejšieho uvažovania nad formálnymi a významovými kontextami šperku ako objektu v intenciách zamerania ateliéru. K šperku autorka pristupuje z pozície grafickej dizajnérky – zaujímajú ju predovšetkým jeho materiálové a prezentačné možnosti. Kolekciu koncipovala ako špecifický „gesamkunstwerk“, navrhnutý priamo do priestoru Galérie NOVA.
Gamanovej šperkárske kolekcie sú najčastejšie vytvorené z predmetov nájdených na zemi. Vášeň v zbieraní a triedení rôznych úlomkov plastov a iných neidentifikovateľných fragmentov jej umožňuje odlišný spôsob vnímania šperku, kam je zahrnuté to, čo sa inak nachádza na okraji. Odpadový materiál, ktorý povyšuje do sféry umenia, na výstave neprezentuje priamo v nájdenej forme, ale vo forme odtlačku (3D tlač). Výsledkom je vytvorenie určitej situácie, ktorá má skôr dokumentačný, než„prítomnostný” charakter. Ako celok výstava evokuje zmenu, nielen fyzickú/materiálovú, ale aj zmenu v čase, pracujúc s fenoménom pamäte a predstavivosťou diváka.

Autorka svojú prácu vidí takto “V dnešnom materialistickom svete sme vecami neustále obklopovaní a nemáme potrebu ich dlhodobo udržiavať. Dôsledkom toho je neustále narastajúce množstvo odpadu. Cieľom mojej diplomovej práce bolo poukázať na to, že aj odpadový materiál dokážeme ďalej spracovať a povýšiť jeho hodnotu. Špeciálnu pozonosť teda venujem nájdenému odpadovému materiálu, ktorý je hlavnou substanciou mojej zbierky, a ktorý neviem identifikovať. Zámerne pracujem so súborom brošní, ktorých úžitková podoba je skrytá a divák nedokáže na prvý pohľad určiť, na čo sa pozerá. Staviam ho tak do role bádateľa, ktorý si kladie otázky. Snažím sa vysvetliť, čo pre mňa ako grafickú dizajnérku znamená šperk a ako vnímam hodnotu materiálu, ktorý sa v tomto médiu používa. Skúmam hranice momentu prepojenia šperkového objektu s inštaláciou výstavy. Predmety nájdené na zemi nevyhnutne sprevádza akcia, počas ktorej mapujem trasu a zaznamenávam svoj pohyb. Vzniká tak nový vzťah k nájdenému predmetu a príbeh, ktorý reprezentuje inštalácia výstavy. ”

Lucia Gamanová (1993) študovala na Katedre intermédií a multimédií v ateliéri Transpraxis (art/socialjustice/culture) u Szabolcs Ernö Kiss-Pála a Nóry Ružičkovej na bratislavskej VŠVU. Bakalársky titul získala na Katedre vizuálnej komunikácie v ateliéri 303 (doc. Pavel Choma a doc. Marcel Benčík). Počas štúdia absolvovala zahraničnú stáž v Krakove na Akadémii Jána Matejka a počas magisterského štúdia ročnú internú stáž na Katedre úžitkového umenia v ateliéri S+M+L_XL – Kov a šperk u prof. Karola Weisslechnera. Svoju diplomovú prácu ukončila medziodborovo, na Katedre vizuálnej komunikácie a na Katedre úžitkového umenia. Bakalársku prácu vystavovala na medzinárodnej prehliadke absolvenstkých prác V4 – Graduation projects 2017 v Lodźi a na Národnej cene za študenstký komunikačný dizajn NCKD 2018. Počas magisterského štúdia vystavovala v krajinách V4, Litva, Srbsko, Španielsko, Nemecko a Bulharsko. Magisterskú prácu vystavovala na medzinárodnej prehliadke absolventských prác V4 – Graduation project 2019 a na medzinárodnej výstave šperku a remesla Talente 2020. Aktívne sa venuje filmovej výtvarnej réžii a divadelnej scénografickej tvorbe.[:en]

Jewellery as Something is author’s first solo exhibition, which is the result of a longer-term reflection on the formal and semantic contexts of jewelry as an object in the focus of the studio
S + M + L_XL. The author approaches the jewelry from the position of a graphic designer – she focuses on the material itself and presentation possibilities. She designed her thesis as a specific “gesamtkunstwerk” reacting at the given space of the NOVA Gallery.
Her jewelry collections are most often made of items found on the ground. The passion of collecting and sorting various fragments of plastic and other unidentifiable fragments allows her to differentiate the way jewelry is perceived, by that she is changing the position, the definition and by that, a status of something that is unnoticeable, left on the edge. She presents the waste material, which she elevates as a piece of art. Found objects are not presented in their original form, there are redefined, rearranged trough an imprint (3D printing). presenting a result that has more of a documentary than “present” character… As a whole, the exhibition evokes change, not just physical/material, but also change over time, reacting directly to the memory phenomenon and the viewer’s imagination.

“In today’s material world, we are constantly surrounded by things that have a short lifetime of use. As a result, there is an ever-increasing amount of waste. The aim of my thesis was to point out that we can also process waste material, increase its value and point out that it can be reused.
So I pay special attention to the found waste material, which is the main substance of my collection, but one the other hand the only one which I cannot identify. I am deliberately working with a set of brooches whose utility is hidden and the viewer is not able to determine at first sight what are they looking at. I give the viewer the role of a researcher who asks the questions. I try to explain what jewelry means to me and how I perceive the value of the material used in this medium. I examine the limits of the moment of connecting the jewelry object with the installation of the exhibition itself. Objects found on the ground inevitably accompany the action, during which I trace the route and record my movement. This creates a new relationship to the found object and the story that represents the installation of the exhibition.”

Lucia Gamanová
Lucia Gamanová (1993) began her studies at the Department of Intermedia and Multimedia in the studio of Transpraxis (art/social justice/culture) held by Szabolcs Ernö Kiss-Pála and Nóra Ružičková at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. She received her bachelor‘s degree at the Department of Visual Communication in Studio 303 (held by doc. Pavel Choma and doc. Marcel Benčík). During her studies, she attended a foreign internship in Krakow at the Jan Matejko Academy and during her master‘s degree, she completed an internship at the Department of Applied Arts in the studio S + M + L_XL – Metal and Jewellery held by prof. Karol Weisslechner. She presented her diploma thesis at the Department of Visual Communication and at the same time at the Department of Applied Arts.
She exhibited her bachelor’s thesis at the international Graduation Project Show 2017 in Poland, and at the National Award for Student Communication Design NCKD 2018 in Slovakia. During her master studied she exhibited in Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Czech Republic, Budapest, Poland, Bulgaria, and Serbia. She exhibited her master’s thesis at the International V4 Graduation Project Show 2019 in Poland and at the Talente 2020 International Jewelry and Craft Exhibition in Germany. He is actively involved in film art directing and stage design.
