New Work / MIKSMITTE, COUNTDOWN

The MIKSMITTE’s COUNTDOWN project (Zuzana Svatik, Štefan Sekáč, David Kurinec) is a look beyond sterile aesthetics and commerce. In it, the designers present a collection of archetypal utilitarian objects in the spirit of a new, energetic, visionary and engaged aesthetic, with the aim of finding an image of a new identity for glass and ceramic design. Their shared strength, autonomy and subsequent fusion reflect objective reality while revealing and bringing closer the creative process, experiment and material. The designers deform matter, take inspiration from the everyday and from forms familiar from other materials (Sekáč, children’s fun balloons), comment in a committed way on post-capitalist society (David Kurinec), or use the surface of ceramic vases and objects for contemporary illustration with controversial imagery (Zuzana Svatik). The project won the main prize at BADW 2018.
